it is honor to be endorsed by Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Local 689, the union that my dad, who passed in 2018, was a member of. ATU Local 689 is comprised of more than 13,000 members and retirees performing occupations within the many skilled transportation crafts for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), MetroAccess and more.

As I mentioned to you, I am a labor leader. I have fought for workers my entire career. I am currently the attorney for the DC Nurses Association where I work everyday to improve the working conditions, wages and benefits for our healthcare heroes.

I have been a union supporter all my life. My father, Allen Blegay, was a member of ATU Local 689. For over 15 years, I have been a champion for labor. Starting in college, I organized the Union Summer Program and AFSCME and worked in both SEIU and AFL-CIO General Counsel offices while in law school.

I will take my advocacy for workers to the Prince George’s County Council and will be a committed voice for labor.  I will also be an advocate for workers’ rights, workers’ safety, apprenticeship programs, safe staffing and more.
